Technology

Discover an entire campus wired for connectivity and a curriculum designed to encourage learning everywhere, anytime. A high speed fiber-optic network links all buildings on the MGA campus. In addition, all students are provided with an Academy email address through Gmail, which enables students to share documents with staff and other individuals. Students also have the option of storing files on the MGA network for later use.

Students at The Maine Girls’ Academy have the ability to bring their own laptops for school use or be provided with a school-issued one. Both of these options allow students to access their files on the MGA network, as well as staff and administrators. MGA is fortunate to have state-of-the-art printers, servers and our grading program, MMS, which is web-based. This feature allows students and parents to access their information through a secure web browser. MGA also maintains a high level of network security.

The school’s Library Media Center hosts five new desktop computers with advanced capabilities. This area is used before and during school for independent student work and class lessons and projects.

All teaching classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards, allowing teachers and students to save and distribute classroom notes in an electronic format, to display their online syllabi and resources to students, to show films and documentaries and to make presentations. As a result of this high-quality technology program, MGA students and staff can communicate quickly and efficiently, draw on resources from around the world and use technology as a tool to enhance teaching, learning and institutional management.
