“If it weren’t for the generosity of donors, I wouldn’t be an Academy girl today. Thank you to everyone who believes that I can, and will, make a difference.”
- Student, MGA Class of 2017

There are numerous ways to make a charitable contribution in support of The Maine Girls’ Academy. Gifts may be unrestricted for our Annual Fund or designated for financial assistance, scholarships or other purposes. You may also designate your gift to the MGA endowment. Some donors make current gifts and others make multi-year commitments. You may wish to retain an interest in your gift, such as the right to receive income from it, or to give through your estate. Below are the many ways you can support The Maine Girls’ Academy:

Annual Fund Gifts:

Your Annual Fund gift supports deserving young women, dedicated faculty and helps to underwrite every element of the MGA educational experience: our rich academics, community and extracurricular programs, tuition assistance, faculty salaries and maintenance of the school’s campus. When you do not specify the use of your gift, MGA gains flexibility to use funds where they are needed most.

Here is how your gift impacts an Academy girl:

$25 Library resource book
$50  Set of lab beakers
$110 Athletic uniform
$300 Tunes the piano annually
$500  Provides travel & fees for regional conferences & meets

Financial Assistance and the $100K Mercy Scholarship Fund:

To offer an Academy education to students of all backgrounds and to ensure diversity of all kinds, we rely on the support of our alumnae and friends. MGA has chosen to make tuition levels accessible for many families, even though the cost of education is much higher. Each year, nearly 60% of students receive financial assistance and the need is greater and only limited by available scholarship funds.

In honor of Joseph Kilmartin, Sister Edward Mary Kelleher and Candace Anderson-Ek’s combined 100 years of service in 2014, we launched a $100K Mercy Scholarship Fund to acknowledge their extraordinary legacy. Your support of the $100K Mercy Scholarship Fund helped provide financial assistance for bright young women. Given our ongoing need for tuition assistance, we are continuing this initiative in their honor. To make a gift, please note that in the “special instructions to seller” box on the Pay Pal giving page or mail your gift directly to MGA.

Tribute or Memorial Gifts:

A tribute or memorial gift is a meaningful way to remember a loved one’s legacy or express your appreciation for someone special. Your gift will make a difference in the lives of our students on behalf of a loved one today, tomorrow and far into the future. When a gift is made in memory, in honor or in celebration of someone, a special letter is sent to the individual being honored or to whom you indicate should be notified of the gift. To make a gift in someone’s name, please be sure to note this information in the “special instructions to seller” box on the online giving form, or mail your gift directly to MGA.

Outright gifts:

Gifts of cash, securities or other property provide MGA with much-needed financial assistance. Outright gifts have an immediate impact on our teaching and financial aid programs because they can be used to support a variety of needs.

Matching gifts:

Make your gift count twice! To obtain direction or matching gift authorization forms, please contact your Human Resources or Personnel Department.

Pledges:

A pledge is a formal statement of intention to make a gift to MGA. It may be followed by an immediate pledge payment, or it may simply confirm your intention to make a gift in the future. Many donors choose to complete their pledge by making regular payments over a period of time. This method often allows donors to give more generously than they may have previously considered.

Recurring Gifts:

Recurring gifts may be made monthly by credit card through our online Pay Pal link by clicking on the “make this recurring (monthly)” box.
