Campus and Community

The 12-acre  campus of The Maine Girls’ Academy is located at 631 Stevens Avenue in Portland, Maine. Our main building is comprised of two wings joined by a glassed mall. One wing houses several classrooms, a meditation chapel, the Library Media Center, science labs, administrative offices, a health clinic and the popular Lion’s Den Café. The other wing features an athletic gym, a music room and a newly-renovated 500-seat auditorium. Additional classrooms, an art studio and other administrative offices are located in the former St. Joseph’s Academy building, a short walk from MGA’s main building.

Located behind the historic gold-domed Motherhouse is the Larry K. Mahaney Athletic Park, which includes the Andrew & Helen McSween Lacrosse Field, the Raymond & Peggy Veroneau, Sr. Softball Diamond and the Wasileski Soccer Field.

The Maine Girls’ Academy attracts students from nearly fifty Maine communities and several foreign countries and is situated right in the heart of Portland, Maine - a vibrant city often cited as one of the finest places to live. Here, students can enjoy cultural, educational and recreational activities - like a visit to the Portland Museum of Art, a minor-league baseball game or even a ferry ride to one of the many islands in Casco Bay. Students may also use the Portland Public Transportation System to visit favorite destinations just outside the city - like the popular Maine Mall in South Portland or one of the many beaches that run along the southern coast of Maine.

If students wish to explore even further, they can simply board the two-hour Downeaster Train from Portland to one of the most diverse cities in the United States - Boston. Here, students may visit the bustling Quincy Market, take a walk on the Freedom Trail, or visit Harvard, the Ivy-League institution that MGA students have attended.
