Competitive Sports

At MGA, girls’ teams get all the attention.

“When girls go to single-sex schools, they stop being the audience and become the players.” – Myra and David Sadker, American University

Looking for teamwork, discipline, spirit … and more than a few state championships?

MGA athletes compete as members of the Southern Maine Activities Association League for all regular season events. Under the league constitution, MGA continues to compete in Class A for all Heal Point Tournament Qualification Sports: field hockey, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, softball and tennis.

In sports where Heal Points are not used for tournament qualification, MGA competes in regional and state levels as assigned. Class B includes indoor track and swimming, and Class C includes cross country, cheering and outdoor track.

At every sporting event, MGA athletes have an entire community of friends, faculty and fans cheering for them. School spirit uplifts our teams, no matter the outcome of the game. Our Larry K. Mahaney Athletic Fields adjoin our campus and bring out the best in all of our student athletes.

No matter the sport, Academy girls have the facilities, coaching and support they need to meet their goals and have fun.
