McAuley? Never on my radar…
When I started looking at high schools, I was convinced I was going to another school, and I never considered McAuley to be a contender. I knew it was an all-girls school, that the girls wore uniforms, and that they had an amazing basketball team. Other than that, I was clueless. I was in 8th grade when my school organized a shadow day, so I went to see what McAuley was really like. That one day turned my whole life around.
I walked through the doors of McAuley and I was astounded by how welcoming and kind the students were. The small, nurturing environment drew me in and the day got better and better with every class I went to. By the end of the day, I was already starting to feel like a student.
Now, three years later, I could go on and on about all the things I love about McAuley. But, to spare you a few hours, I’ll give you my top ten reasons why I love McAuley (in no particular order)…
- small class sizes
- caring teachers
- undeniable school spirit
- challenging academics
- nurturing environment
- the food (you need to try the homemade ice cream sandwiches!)
- kind students
- amazing leadership opportunities
- the school’s mission of Mercy
- the “All-Girl Advantage”
It took just one day to see all of the above and my life was changed from that point on. Now, as I sit at a computer, smiling at myself writing this blog post, I’m reminded of how thankful I am to attend McAuley and to call myself a McAuley Girl.
If you’re interested in checking out McAuley for a day to see if it would be as life changing for you as it was for me, contact Admissions at 797-3802 ext. 2022.
