Head of School Margaret (Peg) Downing officially announced her resignation from Catherine McAuley on Thursday, June 13th, which will be concurrent to the appointment of the next Head of School later this year. Ms. Downing has been a strong steward of Catherine McAuley High School during her three years of tenure, expanding the Virtual High School program, maintaining SAT scores that consistently and significantly exceed state averages, and continuing to provide a 100% college placement rate for graduating seniors. Catherine McAuley is very grateful for Ms. Downing’s involvement in the school, and will greatly miss her wealth of expertise, drive for academic excellence, and passion for upholding the values of the Sisters of Mercy.
Catherine McAuley’s Board of Trustees has begun the search for a new Head of School, who will further this organization’s mission of transforming girls with dreams into women of vision. Catherine McAuley’s unique position in fostering growth and development amongst young woman in the Mercian tradition, paired with a renewed focus on delivering dynamic and demanding academics, will provide a very bright future for both current and incoming students.
