Kudos to Sarah Schnupp ’16, who recently competed in the State of Maine Junior Olympic 3-position Smallbore match in Augusta, where she took the title of Female State Champion and also took home the gold medal. Because she claimed the title of State Champion, she will receive an invitation to Colorado Springs to compete in the Junior Olympics at the United States Olympic Training Facility over April break. (Earlier this month, she also competed in the Junior Olympic Air Rifle Match, where she took the silver medal for the female competitors.)

This is a family triumph; her brother, Patrick, also took the gold medal for males in Smallbore. As a result, he will also be attending the competition in Colorado.

Sarah has been competing in this sport for five years now. And just recently she joined the Scarborough Pistol and Rifle Team. Sarah’s goal is to attend the University of Alaska – Fairbanks and be a part of their rifle team. After that, her dream is to participate in the summer games in 2018, representing the United States on the world stage like her role model, Jamie Gray Corkish, who claimed the gold medal in the 2012 London Olympics.

The entire McAuley community is cheering you on, Sarah!  We are filled with Lion Pride!
