The High School Placement Test is administered at McAuley. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, but not required. This test is used to gauge students’ skill levels for placement purposes. McAuley uses the High School Placement Test sponsored by Scholastic Testing Services.
The High School Placement Test provides measures in the major skill areas, as well as in the cognitive skill area. These areas include Verbal Skills, Quantitative Skills, Reading, Mathematics and Language. It is administered in approximately three hours, which includes distribution of test materials and filling in the biographical areas. It is a standardized test and compares a population of other entering high school students. It is used for placement in our classes once a student has been accepted to Catherine McAuley High School.
Students should arrive at the main entrance by 8:15am in preparation for the 8:30am test. A $20 fee is payable on the day of testing. Pencils will be provided, along with light refreshments. The Math Department has requested that calculators not be used on this test.
Testing dates for the 2013-2014 academic year are as follows:
November 2, 2013
January 11, 2014
* Please note: students who take the November 2, 2013 High School Placement Test will be automatically eligible for a $300 tuition break. In addition, the Academic Excellence Scholarship ($25,000 over the course of four years) will be awarded to the two highest scorers, based on both High School Placement Tests.
