On Friday, January 10, 2014, McAuley will be featured on Channel 13’s “School Spirit Challenge,” a competition among area schools to see who can collect the most non-perishable food items for the Good Shepherd Food Bank. For the fall competition, Biddeford High School won through their collection of over 42,000 lbs of non-perishables. All of the schools featured in the fall segment collected a whopping 126,000 lbs. Very impressive!
McAuley will be one of many schools featured during the winter segment. And although we’re smaller in size, our spirit and commitment to serving others is HUGE – often UNMATCHED! So…join the “School Spirit Challenge” with us today!
How, you may ask?
1. Consider collecting non-perishables over Christmas vacation. Collection bins will be located in the music room for drop-off upon students’ return. We have until February 21st to collect, so let’s begin today!
2. Do you work at a business that would consider a non-perishable donation? Or, would your business allow you to place a food bin in a noticeable area? If so, we’re happy to assist with signage and other supplies. Let us know how we can help!
Now for some important details of the day:
We ask that all students, faculty, staff & administration be here at McAuley, dressed in green & gold or lion attire, at 4:30am on Friday, January 10 (the live broadcast is from 5-7:00am). It will be a half day – with dismissal at 12:00 noon. In addition to collecting record amounts of food for the Good Shepherd Food Bank, another goal of ours is to fill our stands with Lion Pride! So, parents and friends, please join us on this exciting day! This is an open invitation for the ENTIRE McAuley community to participate; what an amazing opportunity for our school and for the Good Shepherd Food Bank!
Thank you in advance for your assistance. Go, Lions!
