Beginning the week of September 22 and heading into the fall, McAuley students and site leaders will embark on an archeological dig in nearby Baxter Woods, at the former site of the Francis O.J. Smith home.

Mr. Jorgensen’s history classes will search for artifacts and document their findings under the direction of Norm Buttrick, Registered Historical Archeologist with the State of Maine, Professor James Leamon of Bates College (History and Archeology Departments), and Kathyrn O’Neil, a recent college graduate who majored in anthropology.

Stay tuned for further updates on this exciting project!
