Carolyn Liziewski ’14 was honored April 5 as the recipient of McAuley’s Principal’s Award for her stellar academic achievement and citizenship.
Marisa Gochie ’15 earned second place honors in the Woman’s Literary Union essay contest on bullying in schools. Siobhan Kenneally ’15 earned an honorable mention nod. Both were recognized with a cash award for their writing talents.
Anna Dube ’15 recently captured first place in the Forbes Feis Irish Dance Compeition for her skill on the dance floor. She will compete in the North American Nationals in July 2014 in Montreal.
Sophomores Danielle Guibord, Akech Allolding, Jennifer Devine, Mikayla Carney, Emily Norman and freshman, Meredith Wheeler, have been included among the twenty finalists in the Merriconeag Poetry Festival for their poetic originality and creativity. Each student will read her poem at a reception on May 4, where contest winners will be announced.
McAuley’s Varsity Basketball Team was honored by the city of Portland with a proclamation honoring them as State Champions. In addition, they traveled to the State House in Augusta, where their accomplishment was celebrated once again.
Allie Clement ’14, in addition to being named Miss Maine Basketball and Gatorade Player of the Year, was recently lauded by the Portland Press Herald as its 2014 Player of the Year. Senior, Olivia Smith, and junior, Victoria Lux, also made the Press Herald’s Top Ten list.
Joan Fasulo ’14 received the Rotary Club Youth Service Award on April 11 for her outstanding community service to the Ronald McDonald House.
Katherine Lake and Sophie Warren, both seniors, were honored by the SMAA with a Citizenship Award for their amazing contributions to the McAuley community…and beyond.
Viviane Kostin ’15 was accepted to the Breadloaf Young Writers’ Conference and will spend a weekend in May 2014 with other young writers under the tutelage of many celebrated authors and teachers of writing.
Marisa Gochie ’15, Sun Yool Park ’15, Maddie Walker-Elders ’15, Irene Baldenweck ’14, Rachael Dalton ’14, Bri Heisler ’14, Carolyn Liziewski ’14, Jill Ma ’14 and Emily Mazza ’14 attended the State Math Meet on Tuesday, April 8 in Bangor. These students placed sixth out of twenty-two in Individual Rounds!
