Elizabeth Emerson ’16 recently competed in her first three phase event on July 7, 2013 at Pipestave Hill Horse Trials, located in West Newbury, MA. This event is recognized by the United States Eventing Association, and Liz competed in three different tests at the Modified Beginner Novice Level – a dressage test, a stadium jumping test with jumps at 2’9″, and a cross country test – all on horseback.
Liz received third place in dressage with a score of 32.0 or 136/200, and she also competed in cross country and show jumping, clearing both rounds. Once both were complete and her scores were entered, she finished in second place for overall competition.
Liz has been riding for seven years and has a true talent and passion for the horses and this sport. The summer before her freshman year at CMHS, she and another student worked several hours researching the opportunity of an Equestrian Club at the school. Due to their efforts and the willingness of Linda Freeman, Guidance Coordinator, as moderator, McAuley was able to re-establish this club after thirty years.
Congratulations, Liz, on your accomplishments!
