On Thursday, February 12, 2015, McAuley will be featured (once again!) on Channel 13’s “School Spirit Challenge,” a competition among area schools to see who can collect the most non-perishable food items/cash donations for the Good Shepherd Food Bank.
McAuley will be one of many schools featured during the winter segment. And although we’re smaller in size, our spirit and commitment to serving others is HUGE – often UNMATCHED!  Last year we collected a whopping 35,000 lbs. for the Good Shepherd Food Bank, and we’re eager to do it again!  So…join the “School Spirit Challenge” with us today!
How, you may ask?
1.  Consider collecting non-perishable items from now until February 27, 2015. A special collection space will be located in the Music Room.
2.  Do you work at a business that would consider a non-perishable food donation?  Or, would your business allow you to place a food bin in a noticeable area? If so, we’re happy to assist with signage and other supplies.  Let us know how we can help!
3.  The Good Shepherd Food Bank also accepts cash donations.  $1 = 5 lbs. of food, and donations may be made either by cash or check.  Checks are to be made payable to the Good Shepherd Food Bank, with “McAuley” clearly marked in the memo line.
McAuley has a long tradition of service, and this is one way of helping to alleviate hunger in our community.  We hope you will support this initiative, while not forgetting McAuley’s own Annual Fund campaign.  Ericka Sanborn, Director of Marketing, is happy to collect any donation, as is Eileen Brown, Dean of Students.
Now for some important details of the day:
We ask that all students, faculty, staff & administration be here at McAuley, dressed in green & gold or lion attire, at 5:30am on Thursday, February 12, 2015 (the live broadcast is from 6-8:00am).  It will be a half day – with dismissal at 12:00 noonA light breakfast will also be served that morning at 8:00am.
In addition to collecting record amounts of food for the Good Shepherd Food Bank, another goal of ours is to fill our stands with Lion Pride!  So, parents and friends, please join us on this exciting day! This is an open invitation for the ENTIRE McAuley community to participate; what an amazing opportunity for our school and for the Good Shepherd Food Bank!
Thank you in advance for your assistance, and please contact the School with any further ideas or comments.
Go, Lions!
