The Maine Girls' Academy
Join us for “a comfortable cup of tea” honoring Catherine McAuley who lived 1778 to 1841
This special day brings together the school community in celebration of the annual tradition passed on from the schools that preceded The Maine Girls’ Academy and continues in gratitude of the strong foundation that our school is built upon.
Mother McAuley asked that the Sisters of Mercy who had traveled to be with her upon her death bed be treated to a “comfortable cup of tea” when she passed. Since then a comfortable cup of tea has become a symbol of the warm and caring relationships which were at the heart of her Mercy vision.
