This past Father’s Day weekend, sophomore Rachel Taylor joined thousands of other cyclists and the American Lung Association in a journey across Maine, all while raising money to fight lung disease and increase awareness about the importance of lung health. The ride, known as The Trek Across Maine, is sponsored by the American Lung Association, the leading organization working to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through Education, Advocacy and Research.
The 180-mile ride starts in the mountains of Sunday River and ends on the coast in Belfast. It is Taylor’s seventh year doing the Trek with her father. Together, they have raised over eight thousand dollars in seven years.
At the end of the event, she will have biked 1,260 miles on this ride alone. She is already registered for the 2014 Trek.
